The original Connaught Grill of the 1970’s was recognised as one of London’s most celebrated restaurants. It is now returning with a modern interpretation of this decadent era. Under the direction of Jean-Georges Vongerichten, this 44 seater restaurant boasts a wood burning grill. Nuzzled in a renovated mews house of Belgravia, Tom Aiken’s new opening will provide guests with an intimate dining experience which is dubbed to be his most personal yet. With just 25 seats those lucky enough to get a reservation can expect a kitchen table experience – either at the kitchen counter or a table side. Signature dishes will spotlight a specific ingredient or element per dish, allowing it to tell a story in its own terms.

Kol is set to offer Mexican Soul with British ingredients with Santiago Lastra (headline picture) at the helm, nicknamed ‘The Nomadic Chef’. Having travelled extensively, Santiago has an illustrious resume taking up guest chef invitations at high profile establishments including London’s Tate Modern and Carousel, Hija de Sanchez in Copenhagen, Meteri in Italy and Neolokal in Istanbul. His reputation preceding him, he was also invited to return to his homeland to launch NOMA Mexico in 2017. Following this, Santiago located to London, dedicating his time to culinary research trips around the UK and gathering inspiration for his debut restaurant KOL. One to watch.

Andrew Lloyd Webber is teaming up with Caprice Holdings founder Richard Caring to open a new restaurant inside the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, which is currently undergoing a massive redevelopment project. The Theatre Royal, Drury Lane will reopen as part of a new nightlife destination known as The Lane ahead of the highly anticipated West End transfer of Frozen The Musical, which opens for previews in October 2020.

Dubbed by Forbes as a ‘super boutique hotel’, The Londoner is situated in London’s iconic Leicester Square and is set to wow the West End by its sheer size, architectural prowess and green credentials. Forming part of the Edwardian Hotel Group, The Londoner will be 5 stars, have 350 rooms, 35 suites, eight storeys above ground and six below ground, complete with six bars and restaurants including a rooftop bar complete with a firepit. The subterranean levels will have a ballroom, seven private meeting rooms, a spa, a 15-meter swimming pool and gym, hair and nail salon, barbershop and the two Odeon cinemas. It’s already been dubbed London’s first ‘iceberg hotel’, which will have more space below ground than above.
